September 30th 2022 Meeting at Brockenhurst Village Hall
Peter Adams presents “The Dean Forest Railway – Reflections”
From 1989 the railway has grown from a steam centre with a demonstration line to a heritage branch line covering four and a half miles. Challenges faced by volunteers included Government regulations for safety, corporate governance, personal accountability, discrimination, disability and food hygiene. These brought about major changes in outlook and attitude.
Scenes highlighting continuous progress as well as setbacks will be screened, with narrative from the presenter’s experience of project management, covering redevelopment of the D.F.R. from Lydney Junction to Parkend, culminating in the formal re-opening by H.R.H. Princess Royal in 2005.
