January 28th 2022 Meeting at Brockenhurst Village Hall
Colin Brading presented “Three Feet on Three Legs - Railways of the Isle of Man”
This presentation explored its unique transport systems, it was like opening the lid of a treasure chest - and what jewels there are!
Wonderful Victorian steam and electric railways still take passengers to ancient towns, through wooded glens, up to a mountain summit and by dramatic coastal scenery, while the oldest operational horse tramway in the world still plies the promenade in Douglas.
Rich though this heritage is, there was once even more, and the presentation also looked at the many other systems that used to exist on this beautiful island.
