Charles Clark presented “Welsh Highland Railway update”

Eight years ago, on 28th February 2014, Charles gave the Club a talk entitled “The Rebirth of a Railway”.

The subject of that talk dealt with the restoration of the Welsh Highland Railway using “then & now” photographs of the 25-mile long restored heritage railway that operates from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, and passes through a number of popular tourist destinations including Beddgelert and the Aberglaslyn Pass.

In the eight years since then the railway has gone from strength to strength, with further restorations and improvements. The new talk featured these changes and  looked at the list of locomotives (over 30) that have ever run on the railway.   There were a number of fascinating quality video clips of action on the line.

Tea and coffee were served at the interval, and willing volunteers helped to serve and clear away.   Thanks to all involved.
