April 24th 2020 (the meeting will be preceded by a short 10 minute AGM)
Stephen Bigley presents “Railways of Scotland in the 70s, 80s and 90s”
Stephen will be looking at a period of transition from the “steam-age-railway-without-the-steam” (diesel hauled long distance trains on the West Highland line controlled by semaphore signalling and traditional single line working and little used freight lines) through to Sprinters and class 66s during the short lived revival of coal traffic in the 1990s.
Geographically the spread will be from the Borders to the Far North.
In addition to trains in various locations we will also be looking at everything else that makes up the railway - stations such as Glasgow Central and remote Corrour not forgetting the mighty Forth and Tay Bridges.
Club Day trip on Sunday June 21st - final payments for places at this meeting. Numbers needed for the August outing.
