The Rhaetian Railway by John Fissler
Rhätische Bahn (RhB) is the extensive metre gauge
network of the Graubünden canton of Switzerland where it is second only in
mileage to the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB). This stunning network includes the
UNESCO listed Albula and Bernina lines featuring the highest open air railway
crossing of the Alps as well as the Rheinschlucht.
The digital presentation by club member John Fissler, a
professional engineer who worked for British Rail and successor companies for
41 years mainly in the signal and telecommunications field, took an in-depth
look at RhB operations as well as some behind the scenes matters, and featured
steam, heritage and modern traction. He showed some stunning slide pictures and awesome video footage.
